Simonds offers 4 types of carbon band saw blade - Hard Edge, Simet, Furnwood II, and Friction band.

Hard Edge - or HEMB, the basic carbon blade with hardened teeth and a flexible back - the teeth are hardened to 63 Rc - 65 Rc (Rc = Rockwell "C" scale)

Flexible back - 25 to 27 Rc	Resists fatigue at high speeds and on small wheel machines
Inexpensive	Good where operator abuse of blades is a problem

Hard Edge ranges from 1/8" to 1-1/4" in width, with many variations available. Offered in coil form or welded to length - call for availability.

Simet - this blade combines hardened teeth with a hardened back

Hardened back - 45 to 47 Rc	Greater beam strength for higher blade tension and higher cutting rates - less susceptible to guide damage
Cost-effective	A few pennies more than HEMB, but with up to 25% more performance

Simet ranges from 1/4" to 1-1/4" in width, with many variations available. Offered in coil form or welded to length - call for availability.

Furnwood II - this hard edge blade is designed for woodworking operations and the furniture industry, but can be used on non-ferrous metals also. Extra beam strength (.032 thickness) for accurate contour cutting.

Friction Band - designed for friction cutting stainless and other high alloy steels at speeds from 8,000 to 15,000 S.F.P.M. (surface feet per minute), the gullets carry the molten metal out of the cut.
