CONTROLLED TUBE CUT-OFF LATHES
|

The programmable controls of these versatile
LNC machines make set-up and changeover a breeze. You can now produce complete parts
with a single machine!
These cost-saving LNC machines
are capable of performing the following operations:
· Automatic Loading
· O.D. Plunge Forming or Turning
· O.D. Chamfering
· O.D. Deburring
· I.D. Chamfering or Light I.D. Form
Cutting of One End
· Cutting Off
· Automatic Unloading |
 |
One operator controls
the entire operation from a pendant-mounted console. |
| Drawing on
their many years of experience in cutoff technology, the engineers at Modern Machine Tool
Company have combined the best features of their conventional cutoff lathes with the
latest in CNC controls to develop this efficient "LNC" line of high-production
cutoff and machining lathes. |

|

|
|
Standard stock stop
mechanism rides on a sturdy 2 x 6 ground steel beam with precision linear ways. |
|
|
Large pre-loaded ball
screw mechanism with optional servo control permits programming varying part lengths. |
|

|

|
|
Slide on left chamfers the
part while right-hand slide performs the cutoff operation. |
|
|
Both single-axis slides
move perpendicular to spindle. V-shaped swing position steady rests support stock
during cutoff, then deposit finished parts onto exit ramp. |
|
 |
Modern's hopper-type automatic feeders store large bundles of tube or pipe in any
length. They load on tube at a time into the machine, adjusting quickly to varying
stock diameters, trimming the end of each new tube and ejecting remnant ends. |
Check these important features: |
SETS UP FAST FOR QUICK CHANGEOVER. Most machine adjustments
are programmable from the operator station.
USES STANDARD CNC PROGRAMMING
OPERATES FAST, EFFICIENTLY, AUTOMATICALLY
CONSTANT SURFACE
FOOTAGE SPINDLE DRIVE provides significant productivity gains over
conventionally controlled machines. 30 HP is standard, 40 HP optional.
IDEAL FOR SHORT OR
LONG RUNS on heavy wall tubing from ¼" to 8" O.D. and solid bar
stock up to 3¼" diameter.
USES STANDARD,
COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE CARBIDE INSERT TOOLING in place of expensive form
tools.
100% FANUC CONTROLS,
SERVOS AND SPINDLE DRIVE with CRT monitor and pendant mounted operator
control panel. (Allen-Bradley controls are optional.)
CUT LENGTHS UP TO
48" with standard stop support beam. (Longer beams are available.) |
|
RIGID BEAM STOCK STOP. The stop is
moved along linear bearings by a crank-operated ball screw, using a digital readout for
setting the length position. It is locked and unlocked in position by a selector
switch-operated power clamp. As an option, the stop can be automatically positioned by
servo control. This allows programming a variety of different part lengths from the same
bar for efficient use of material.
FEED RATES
are positive, precise, programmable.
TOOL WEAR TIMERS
indicate when tools need replacing.
TWO CROSS SLIDES,
fed by independent servo drives and ball screws, move perpendicular to the spindle. While
one slide cuts off, the other performs O.D. chamfering or O.D. plunge turning. One I.D.
can also be chamfered or light form cut.
AUTOMATIC FEEDER
holds large bundles of tube, pipe and bar stock.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT
includes roller feed assembly, automatic lubrication of main spindle bearings, high volume
coolant pump and piping, fused disconnect and cycle counter. |

These rates are based on
1010-1020 carbon steel, with pieces cut 6" or less in length, at a spindle speed of
450 surface feet per minute and a feed rate of .004. Cutting longer pieces (between
6" and 24") will decrease production rates by 10%. |
