The Simonds Red-Tang file is one of the most respected symbols of quality and reliability in the marketplace today. Our American Pattern file range is the most thorough, and, if you don't find what you need in our catalog, we manufacture more "specials" than anyone else in the world.

American Pattern files are divided into two categories - Machinists' or Engineer's Files, which are generally double cut for rapid stock removal, and Saw Files, which are generally single cut for smoother finishes. There are three cut grades to choose from - Bastard, or coarse, Second Cut, or medium, and Smooth, or fine grade.

Additionally, we offer two finishes - the standard "gray" file and our premium Black Maxi-Sharp® files. The exclusive Black Maxi Sharp® finish extends file life due to increase resistance to loading and rust.

Simonds also produces a full range of Rasps for woodworking. Rasps differ from standard American Pattern files in that each tooth is individually punched for uniformity and sharpness, allowing quick removal of material.

Wavy Teeth - a unique design featuring tooth spacing similar to a variable tooth hacksaw blade (coarse - to fine - to extra fine) that enables material to be removed faster while providing a smoother finish without "chattering". Files will last longer due to this unique Simonds feature. Wavy Teeth are standard on all Simonds double-cut files, except rounds.

Multi-Kut® - Known as the world's most versatile file because it combines the uses of flat and mill files. The coarse teeth allow material to be removed fast (like a flat file) and the double chip-breaker design generates a smooth finish (like a mill file).

Spiral Half Round - A built-in "twist & roll" action on the half round side leaves a super smooth finish on concave surfaces, while allowing a more natural filing motion in use. The flat side is available with the Multi-Kut® for a wider range of applications. Best of all . . . its easy to use.
