Simonds Bimetal Band Saw Blades
ISO 9002 Certified Quality System
Bimetal blades offer more cutting versatility and longer life through
their unique construction, where a ribbon of high speed steel is
electron-beam welded to a spring tempered alloy backer.
The high speed steel edge offers durable, tough cutting ability, while
the tempered alloy backer provides the fatigue resistance for long blade
life.
Simonds offers 3 types of bimetal band saw blade - Centaur 300, Dieband
+, and Epic 400 Series.
Centaur
300 Series - Our M30 or Matrix grade of bimetal band saw,
Centaur offers the optimum blend of hardness and toughness. The backer is
heat treated to 45 to 47 Rc, while the tooth tips are 65 to 67 Rc.
Centaur 300 Series Standard Range - for
use on structural steel, pipe & tubing, mixed cross sections, general
cutting applications, and mild steel applications. This blade is well
suited for use in maintenance shops, fab shops, small to medium
manufacturers, and steel service centers.
Features & Benefits
| Bimetal construction |
Longer life and lower cost per cut than carbon blades |
| M30 High Speed Steel edge |
Excellent shock resistance resists tooth chipping |
| Capped Teeth |
Prevents shipping or handling damage |
Centaur 300 Series ranges from 3/4" to 1-1/4" in width, with
many variations available. Offered in coil form or welded to length - call
for availability.
DIEBAND+ - An M42 product developed
specifically for tool rooms and machine shops where contour cutting all
materials is the norm. The backer is heat treated to 45 to 47 Rc, while
the tooth tips are 67 to 69 Rc.

Features & Benefits
| Bimetal construction |
Longer life and lower cost per cut than carbon blades |
| M42 High Speed Steel edge |
High wear resistance for long life |
| Tempered alloy backer |
Longer life for contour cutting |
Dieband + is available in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" widths,
with many variations available. Offered in coil form or welded to length -
call for availability.
Epic 400
Series - Our M42 grade of bimetal band saw, Epic is the
work-horse for production cutting applications. The backer is heat treated
to 45 to 47 Rc; the tooth tips are 67 to 69 Rc.
Epic 400 Series Standard Range - for cutting medium to high alloy
solids, but can be used in interrupted cuts and sections also. This blade
is well suited for use by medium to large manufacturers, steel service
centers, and tool & die shops.
Features & Benefits
| M42 High Speed Steel edge |
Greater wear resistance than M30 |
| Oversized blade body |
Beam strength increased by 25% avg. |
| Variable gullet depth |
Increases blade life |
| Capped Teeth |
Prevents shipping or handling damage |
Epic 400 Series ranges from 3/4" to 3-1/8" in width, with
many variations available. Offered in coil form or welded to length - call
for availability.
Epic
Bundle Band - the original ground tooth blade was first
introduced in 1994. This blade is designed specifically for cutting bundle
solids, structurals, and tubing. Excellent for use by steel service
centers, production cutting houses, and fabricators.
Features & Benefits
| Aggressive tooth geometry |
M42 edge outperforms Matrix in bundle cutting applications |
| Oversized blade width |
Improved beam strength and longer blade life |
Epic Bundle Band comes with either 3-5 or 5-8 T.P.I. in various widths.
Offered in coil form or welded to length - call for availability.
Epic EHS - wider kerf for a better cut!
EHS Extra Heavy Set band saw blades are specifically designed for cutting
H-Beams, I-Beams, or structurals that have a tendency to close in on the
cut. EHS provides a wider kerf to minimize blade pinching due to internal
material stresses during cutting. Excellent for use by steel fabricators,
production cutting houses, and steel service centers.
Features & Benefits
| 8% Cobalt High Speed Steel edge |
Longer life |
| Wider kerf |
Minimizes blade "pinching" |
| Positive tooth rake angle |
Faster cutting rates |
Epic EHS ranges from 1-1/4" to 2-5/8" in width, in various
tooth pitches. Offered in coil form or welded to length - call for
availability.
Epic
XL - a new angle in cutting all alloys. Excels in high
production sawing of most materials - the true "production"
band. Great for cutting medium to high alloys and tool steels. Used by
large manufacturers looking for "parts on the floor", the
aircraft and aerospace industries, and steel service centers.
Features & Benefits
| 15° positive tooth rake angle |
Penetrates material for high production cutting rates |
| Variable gullet depth |
Increases production rates and offers better chip removal |
Epic XL ranges from 3/4" to 1-1/2" in width, in various tooth
pitches. Offered in coil form or welded to length - call for availability.
Epic
Si-Clone - state-of-the-art design overcomes work hardening - a
super blade for cutting D2, stainless steels, Inconel, Monel, and other
exotic alloys. Provides faster cutting rates with less machine pressure.
Used by steel service centers, production cutting houses, and fabrication
shops.
Features & Benefits
| State-of-the-art design |
Minimizes work hardening conditions |
| Unique tooth geometry |
Increases cutting rates with less machine pressure |
Epic Si-Clone ranges from 1" to 2-5/8" in width, in various
tooth pitches. Offered in coil form or welded to length - call for
availability.
